News Alarms aBlue Jays’ Max Scherzer reacts to Trea Turner challenging his first pitch

The ABS system is a new experiment that Major League Baseball is implementing this year during spring training. The players are having fun as they get used to yet another new set of regulations. One such game was played in Dunedin on Sunday between the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto’s Max Scherzer, who is probably going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, takes the hill. The Phillies’ leadoff hitter? It was none other than Trea Turner, Scherzer’s close buddy and former teammate. Turner chose to challenge Scherzer’s first pitch of the afternoon, a surefire strike, in an attempt to tease him.

After the game, Scherzer told Zolecki, “There’s just some good heat going on behind the scenes there.” We’ll giggle since Trea and I are close friends. All they’re doing is playing tricks on me. Behind the scenes, a lot of things were happening. I can’t be serious about these at-bats. These are practice matches versus some of my close pals. Trea is undoubtedly one of my all-time favorite teammates, and we have too many amazing stories together.

Everyone had a good time, and it demonstrated how close Scherzer and Turner are to one another. After seven seasons of playing together with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals, the troll strike was just another chapter in their friendship. Given that Scherzer is 40 years old and has just finished two seasons with the New York Mets and Texas Rangers marred by injuries, this could be his last season in the major leagues. The guy also known as “Mad Max” would surely enjoy a return to October and the opportunity to contend for one more crown. The Blue Jays currently appear to have at least a chance of accomplishing it. Before he rides off into the sunset, can Scherzer spin one more vintage season?
