Michael Sweet addressed the frequent comparisons between Stryper and other rock bands, particularly after a YouTube video suggested Stryper could have been bigger than Judas Priest if they’d changed their lyrical themes. Sweet shared the video clip on Instagram, quoting a biblical passage about storing up treasures in heaven, seemingly commenting on the trade-off between commercial success and artistic integrity. He also discussed Stryper’s success in an interview, acknowledging their achievements but noting they weren’t as financially successful as bands like Bon Jovi or Motley Crue. Sweet suggested that if Stryper had adopted more typical rock and roll lyrical themes (sex and drugs), they might have achieved greater financial success, as musically they were just as good. Despite this, Stryper continues to tour and perform at festivals, including appearances at Sweden Rock Festival, Rock Imperium Festival, Rock Fest Barcelona, and Riverside Festival.
