McKenna Frustrated as Ipswich Fall to Brighton
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna expressed his disappointment following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Portman Road. Goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter secured the victory for the Seagulls, ending their eight-match winless streak in the Premier League.
Despite the loss, McKenna felt his team were the more threatening side throughout the match. “I thought we were the more threatening team in the first half,” he stated. “We had some good opportunities, and their goalkeeper [Bart Verbruggen] made some decent saves.”
McKenna highlighted the importance of clinical finishing in such games. “We need to be more clinical in front of goal,” he said. “We created some good chances, but we weren’t able to convert them.”
The Ipswich boss also acknowledged Brighton’s quality, stating, “Brighton are a very good side. They are well-organized and they have some very talented players.”
The defeat leaves Ipswich in the relegation zone, and McKenna knows his side needs to improve their form quickly. “We need to learn from this defeat and move on,” he said. “We have a tough schedule coming up, but we need to be ready for the challenge.”
