BREAKING NEWS🚨 5-Star No.4 Prospect in the Class 2025, SF Agot Makeer has Committed to South Carolina Boosting the Team’s Quality and Depth. Welcome to South Carolina.
Elite 2025 recruit Agot Makeer has committed to South Carolina, she announced on Saturday. “I’m a very competitive person,” Makeer told On3 in a previous interview. “My work ethic isn’t like a lot of the other girls in my class, and I feel like that puts me ahead sometimes. I’m versatile in a way that my body is different, I can get to the rim and score from the perimeter.”
Makeer, a 6-foot-1 combo guard, could see herself at each of the programs she was considering, but the Gamecocks stood out.
“It’s really good. I have a pretty good relationship with coach [Dawn] Staley. It’s one of the powerhouses of women’s basketball like UConn. It’s really cool to be recruited by them and I love what they do there for black women, especially. I really like that and I have a good relationship with the coaching staff, so I’m excited to get on campus.”
There were several factors Makeer was considering when making her decision. “Genuine relationships are big for me,” Agot Makeer said. “My top six schools are those because I have genuine relationships with the coaching staff and they’ve taken time to build relationships with my family as well… All six schools, I could go and make an impact.”
Even though she’s a small forward, Makeer said NBA legends Kevin Durant and Steph Curry influenced her game the most while growing up. “I think my strength and is my versatility is what makes me different ,” Makeer told Kentucky.com. “I can play one through five and can guard one through five. So, I think it’s just me being able to do different stuff on the court. Those are things that both of those guys can do – showcase their versatility.”
