All of the Information Regarding Virgin River Season 7
Officially, Virgin River Season 7 has been renewed.
Virgin River Season 7 has already been confirmed for additional episodes, so fans who are afraid the show won’t ever air may relax.
Season 7 was formally approved (via Deadline) before to Season 6’s December 2024 premiere, making the series the longest-running Netflix original scripted series to date.
It wouldn’t be shocking if Season 8 was also in the works, considering the series’ ongoing popularity.
When Will Season 7 Be Released? Filming Will Start This Spring.
Season 7’s release date has not been revealed, although there are some rumours circulating about when it might be available to streamers.
The next episodes were still being written as of December 2024. Filming for Season 7 is scheduled to start in the spring, and scripts should be available by January, according to Deadline.
About seven months before Season 4’s actual premiere (which ended in December 2021 and was released in July 2022), filming came to a conclusion. Season 5 took roughly ten months, and again, Season 6 took seven.
A comparable production schedule might allow for a debut as early as later this year, possibly in December (like Season 6 did).
It has been confirmed that sixteen cast members will return.

Mark Ghanimé is departing from the program.
Mark Ghanimé’s portrayal of Cameron is one character that won’t return for Season 7.
Initially introduced in Season 4 as a new physician joining the local Virgin River clinic, Ghanimé’s character Dr. Cameron Hayek appears to have reached the end of his run on the show.
While confirming that the character would “[not] be a series regular in Season 7,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith made careful to mention that he would “love to have him back” at some point in the future in an interview with Deadline in December:
“I hope to see Cameron’s character return since he will always be a part of our universe. Sadly, he won’t be a regular on the show in Season 7, but I adore Mark and the character, so I would really like to see him return when the chance arises.”
At the end of Season 5, Ghanimé’s character was leaving for San Diego with his ex-fiancee Michelle, the last time viewers saw him. Fans, however, continued to hold out hope that he would return in some capacity for Season 6.
However, this discovery reveals that the character is permanently gone, and that the former Virgin River doctor’s Season 6 absence was a more permanent one (learn more about Cameron’s Virgin River exit here).
Season 7 Continues Where Season 6 Ended
Virgin River Season 7’s plot has not yet been announced, however it has been hinted that the show would pick up right after viewers last saw it.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith revealed that “the next season picks up like two hours” following the events of Virgin River’s sixth season in an interview with Deadline that summarised the events of Season 6:
“Currently, the next season picks up like two hours later, there is not a time jump this time.”
After the wedding-heavy Season 6, the Netflix creative said, “I can’t promise any more weddings,” giving a hint as to where he sees this next group of episodes going:
“I am unable to guarantee any more weddings. After Season 6, we are a little weddinged out, but it seemed like the concept occasionally creeps into couples at weddings, so examining it felt like an even more effective way to include our supporting characters in the event itself by having them assess or reassess their own marriage-related relationships as individuals or as a couple.”
Additionally, he revealed that the following season will delve deeper into the discovery that Brie and Jack’s parents are having an affair, and that Mike’s investigation will return in Season 7:
“We will definitely explore all of it in Season 7. We left clues. At one point in the earlier episodes, Mike claims, “I’m a detective, I detect things,” in reference to his notion that Brie and Jack’s parents are sleeping together (608). The plan was to make him a very good police officer by profession and then let him discover these hints and hints along the road. It was very subtle since Jack, who is aware that Brady and Brie had been together, gives Brady a somewhat accusing glance around the fire with the guys when it is mentioned that Brady might be a family man in this relationship with Lark. However, we will go into further detail about it in Season 7.
“We are exploring a little bit more of Mel’s origins,” Smith said as the new episodes began, when asked if viewers would be able to see the backstories of some more characters in the future:
We’re delving a little more into Mel’s beginnings as a midwife, which we know influenced her decision to become a nurse. She also revealed that her emotional response to her mother’s illness and death contributed to her calling. It involves learning more about Mel’s interactions with birth moms and newborns, as well as delving deeper into that aspect of her vocation.”
For the time being, Season 7 is not the final season.
Virgin River has been a Netflix masterpiece since its premiere, solidifying its position as one of the most popular dramatic series in the service’s history. It would make logical that there aren’t any plans to end the show just yet because of this.
According to showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, there are “no plans to wrap up the series anytime soon:” in an interview with Deadline.
“No plans to wrap up the series anytime soon, and as long as people keep coming back for it, we’re proud and happy to keep telling these stories.”
If Netflix wants to continue the show for a long time, there are many stories to choose from because the novel series on which it is based covers more than 50 books.
