Sometimes, a change of scenery is all a person needs to get a fresh start on their current situation. He might get that chance with the news that former Texas A&M guard Kenyon Green is being traded.
It was reported that the former first-round pick and a 2026 5th-round pick are being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for safety CJ Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 6th-round pick. Green’s time with the Houston Texans has been marred by injuries following his rookie season, when we started 14 of 15 games. In 2023, he missed the entire season due to a shoulder injury and then half of the 2024 season due to another shoulder issue.
Green’s poor start to his NFL career isn’t based on a lack of the necessary skill set, but it’s just bad injury luck that could change if his offseason conditioning improves. Still, this looks like a great trade for the Super Bowl Champion Eagles, who look to replace starting right guard Mekhi Becton, who is a free agent after plaything through his 1-year deal.
Going back to his three-year career in College Station, Green saw time at guard and tackle while starting nearly every game. Despite his recently poor performance, Green started 23 of 27 games for the Houston Texans. Green will join Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith and punter Braden Mann in Philadelphia.
