In an interview, Toni Nadal explained that although he resigned as director of the Rafa Nadal Academy around a year and a half ago, he still frequently visits the facilities. His choice was prompted by Toni’s declaration that he wanted a more peaceful existence at the age of sixty-three. He said, “Just over a year ago, I decided to resign as director because of my age and I didn’t want to overwork myself, but I still go there almost every day.”
Even though Toni sold some of the academy’s operating rights, it is evident that the academy’s activities are still in place and that Rafael Nadal, his nephew, still owns the business. “As far as I know, Rafael still owns the academy; any agreements regarding its operation and potential expansion are a separate matter,” he said.
As part of his continued involvement in tennis, Toni Nadal will continue to be involved as the director of the Mallorca Championships, which will be held in Santa Ponsa from June 21 to June 28. As has been the case in recent years, Toni strives to keep the calibre of participation high. This grass competition occurs just a week before Wimbledon and has previously featured superstars like Djokovic. Players like Nick Kyrgios and Gael Monfils have already confirmed their participation in the next edition.
