Tennessee set to receive key visit from elite recruit that has an important connection to the Vols

The Tennessee Vols are reportedly set to receive a key visit from an elite 2026 four-star recruit that has a connection to UT football.

According to 247Sports, 2026 four-star interior offensive lineman Leo Delaney will take an official visit to Tennessee on June 20.

Delaney, 6-foot-6/280 lbs from Charlotte, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of North Carolina. He’s also rated as the No. 63 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

The North Carolina native also has official visits scheduled to Clemson and Michigan later this spring/summer.

Delaney was teammates with current Vols offensive lineman David Sanders Jr (a five-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class) at Providence Day in Charlotte. I don’t know how much of an advantage that connection gives Tennessee in this recruiting battle, but it certainly doesn’t hurt (especially since Sanders chose Tennessee over numerous elite programs, including Clemson).

We’ll see where this recruiting battle stands after Delaney takes his official visits.

And speaking of official visits, the timing of Delaney’s official visit to Tennessee is something that works in the Vols’ favor in this battle. Tennessee will get Delaney’s final official visit before the summer dead period begins. That’s important due to the fact that Delaney is reportedly expected to commit before the start of his senior season in high school, meaning the Volunteers will get the last chance to make a good in-person impression on the talented recruit before he announces his commitment.

Tennessee currently has eight players committed to its 2026 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 6 in the nation. Landing Delaney would help boost that ranking a bit.
