“I adore being a basketball coach. Being around it is something I adore. Barnes stated. “A young man on Caŏmpus has already made a commitment to us. Next year, we’re planning to create a team, and I really intend to be a part of it.” Barnes also talked on how his faith affected his employment choices, reflecting “I believe that God will make it very evident when He wants me to go to sleep so that I can get up.
In the ̏NCAŏA Tournament, Tennessee has advanced far under Barnes’ direction. During the first round, the Volunteers defeated Wofford 77-62. By upsetting UCLA 67-58, they continued their impressive run and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third year in a row—a program-best accomplishment.
