Rafael Nadal sells a portion of his tennis academy to secure a €94 million agreement.

Nadal Gets a Huge Financial Lift After Selling Almost 45% of His Academy

In a significant financial transaction, Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal sold investment organisation GPF 44.9% of his Manacor-based high-performance tennis academy. The former world No. 1 has made an incredible €94.1 million in profit from the deal, which mostly consists of the transfer of a property asset from the academy. This is almost five times more than the previous year’s profit.

With record profits, Rafael Nadal’s investment wealth soars.
Overseeing all of Nadal’s investments, Aspemir, his holding company, recorded a 372.8% increase in net earnings in 2023, going from €19.9 million in 2022 to €94.1 million. Nevertheless, overall revenues decreased by 39.9% to €21.95 million from €36.5 million in 2022.

The company’s income primarily comes from image rights, sponsorships, and public appearances, which remain Nadal’s main sources of post-retirement revenue. Additionally, Aspemir increased its stake in the private investment firm Mabel Capital Global, bringing its total ownership to 50% as of February 2024. Nadal’s strategic moves: Asset transfers and capital restructuring The sale of the Centre Esportiu Manacor, better known as the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, resulted in a capital reduction of €10.76 million in investment value for Aspemir. However, in return, the company gained real estate assets while also assuming debts and liabilities from the academy’s accounts. Furthermore, Aspemir has transferred ownership of R. Nadal International School—a key component of the academy—to another affiliated company, solidifying its business restructuring strategy. What’s Next for Nadal’s thriving business empire? With a net worth now exceeding €341.4 million (a 44% increase from 2022), Nadal continues to establish himself as a savvy businessman beyond his legendary tennis career. While he remains active in promoting his academy and philanthropic efforts, this latest deal highlights his long-term vision for financial growth and strategic investment. As Nadal steps back from professional tennis, his off-court moves suggest that his legacy will not only be defined by his 22 Grand Slam titles but also by his business acumen and wealth-building strategies.
