NFL rumors: Dan Campbell Says “No Other But Broncos coach” is fit for potential Ben Johnson replacement

The Detroit Lions were almost probably the NFL’s most dominant club during the regular season. The secret to their success, which included winning the NFC North championship and receiving the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff format, was an explosive attack that averaged a league-best 33.2 points per game.

However, the Lions’ season came to an abrupt end in the divisional playoffs. The surging Washington Commanders defeated head coach Dan Campbell’s team 45-31 at home. In that game, the Lions offense moved the ball with relative ease, as it had all season. Quarterback Jared Goff struggled with turnovers, throwing three interceptions, but the offense was dynamic.

Following the defeat, opposing NFL teams raided the Detroit coaching staff. The Chicago Bears made a big step by hiring offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new head coach.

Johnson, who was named the league’s outstanding assistant coach this season, is a brilliant play caller who has helped the Lions perform at their peak in 2024. According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Denver Broncos passing game coach John Morton is a top candidate for the position of offensive coordinator.

Morton also has opportunity with The Lions

The Broncos had a successful season, making the AFC playoffs for the first time since 2015. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix earned the starting job early in the season, and the Broncos finished 10th in scoring with an average of 27.1 points per game.
