Big Problem Emerges as Darren Mougey facing 2 fundamental Jets decisions

The New York Jets are slowly making their way through their offseason to-do list, and with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey appointed as head coach and general manager, respectively, the focus has shifted to the squad.

With so many decisions to make, Glenn and Mougey are at a loss for where to begin. But, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Aaron Rodgers’ future appears to be going in the right path for a return, so the decision on No. 8 may come sooner than later.

For ESPN’s Rich Cimini, and for curious Jets fans, Mougey faces two major dilemmas. “There are some building blocks on the roster, but Mougey must decide on Rodgers and formulate a long-term plan at quarterback,” according to Cimini. “Another pressing issue is the future of wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who is eligible for a contract extension and could request a trade.”

The experiment with Rodgers, who is widely regarded as one of New York’s two best offensive players, has failed. Granted, he missed one season due to injury, and 2024 was all about regaining his footing.

Rodgers did develop chemistry with Garrett Wilson, but the receiver was plainly disgruntled by the conclusion of the season, leading to talks of a move away from Gang Green. However, Mougey will not have a rest spell as Jets general manager, since the fates of two key players are high on his priority list.
