The Detroit Lions passed, ran and tackled their way to the best record in the NFC North during the 2024 NFL regular season, only to lose 45-31 in the playoffs to Washington amid a string of injuries.
On Wednesday, Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was joined on his St. Brown Podcast by brothers Osiris and Equanimeous during which the topic of the 2025 NFL season opener came up.
The St. Brown brothers threw out a list of teams for the potential opening game during which Amon-Ra St. Brown said there’s a strong chance that he and coach Dan Campbell’s Lions could open the season at Lincoln Financial Field against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Amon-Ra St. Brown runs through a battery of Commanders players at Ford Field in Detroit on January 18, 2025.
“You don’t want that smoke,” Equanimeous St. Brown said to his brother Amon-Ra as he spoke about potentially playing the Eagles in 2025’s opening game.
The three brothers unanimously agreed that the Lions are the likely choice to play Philadelphia, which led to a spirited exchange.
“You could really see what could’ve happened in the NFC Championship, not really, but like…” Equanimous St. Brown said.
“Yeah, with a healthy defense…Their team’s not going to change much, I mean it might change a little,” Amon-Ra St. Brown added.
“But I’m saying, you would see with our healthy defense, how that (expletive) operates,” he continued, saying that 13 players were injured on that side of the ball for the Lions.
Fans defended their teams in the comments section as they were drawn into a war of words.
“I do believe a healthy Lions team would’ve won the bowl,” one fan said. “They were missing their best player (Aidan Hutchinson) all season.”
“Gonna file this under (expletive) around and find out,” another fan added. “Will revisit after they get stomped by the Eagles.”
“Eagles will beat the kitties,” another fan added.
“Homie…you lost before getting to the finals so maybe you guys are not the real team,” another fan added. “They just won the Super Bowl.”
“I love you Amon-Ra but you’ve gotta chill a bit,” another comment read.
“Let’s make it happen,” still another commenter said, adding to hype surrounding the potential matchup.
