Oklahoma has done a good job recruiting the wide receiver position under assistant coach Emmett Jones. They’ve added a number of blue-chip prospects in recent years and hope to do the same in the 2026 recruiting class.
The Sooners currently have one wide receiver committed, four-star prospect Daniel Odom, but are still trying to add to the wide receiver class this cycle, recently offering four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit.Petit hails from Naples, Fla. and is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound star for First Baptist Academy. According to 247Sports, he’s the No. 201 player in the class and the No. 31 wide receiver.
As a player, Petit plays strong off the line of scrimmage. Though teams attempt to jam him, he shows the strength and tenacity to work through press coverage. Though opposing corners attempt to play him physically, Petit isn’t easily knocked off of his route. He displays good concentration to work through handfighting and make the catch even when being interfered with. After the catch, he’s tough to bring down, welcoming contact and breaking tackles. He runs more like a running back in the open field, using his size and physicality along with his agility to create extra yards after the catch. Petit shows good versatility, working in the slot and on the outside, and can run a full route tree.
Petit is a big-time playmaker who holds notable offers from Florida, Auburn, Miami, Tennessee, Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Missouri, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas A&M, UCLA, and West Virginia
The Sooners will have an uphill battle earning a commitment from the Florida native with the top schools in the state in pursuit. But if OU can find a way to add Petit to their 2026 class, they’ll have a player capable of big things at the collegiate level.
