- In the wake of a recent press conference organized by Kim Sae Ron’s family and the YouTube channel HoverLab Inc., actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, GOLDMEDALIST, has issued an official response. The conference, dramatically titled “Kim Soo Hyun Serious Crime Exposé,” featured accusations and an alleged audio recording that the agency firmly denounces as false and fabricated.
GOLDMEDALIST, represented legally by LKB & Partners, expressed grave concerns over the claims made during the event. The agency explained that the audio clip, supposedly featuring the voice of the late Kim Sae Ron, is completely artificial. Their preliminary analysis indicates that the recording was generated using AI technology. According to GOLDMEDALIST, the individual who supplied the audio attempted to extort them, presenting a manipulated clip in exchange for money, which the agency refused.
The agency asserted that the person behind the audio has no known ties to Kim Sae Ron and had no opportunity to record her. When GOLDMEDALIST denied the blackmail attempt, the audio provider allegedly partnered with HoverLab to publicize the fake recording. The company confirmed they are currently undergoing a technical investigation to validate the audio’s inauthenticity and will disclose the findings once available.
In addition to the audio file, HoverLab displayed an “attack photo” during the press event, alleging that the audio provider had been assaulted under the instruction of either GOLDMEDALIST or attorney Kho Sang Rock. The agency denounced the claim as completely unfounded and ludicrous. They noted that the photo is not original evidence but one that can be found online through a basic search, thus dismissing the accusation as intentional misinformation.
GOLDMEDALIST went on to characterize the press conference as another calculated attempt by HoverLab to harm Kim Soo Hyun’s public image. The agency linked the event to HoverLab’s past misconduct, which includes defamation, cyberstalking, and other online offenses. According to the statement, HoverLab’s latest actions are part of a broader pattern of attacks based on falsified information.
Furthermore, the agency emphasized that the misuse of AI to create false evidence represents a new and dangerous form of criminal behavior. They warned that such conduct not only threatens the reputations of individuals like Kim Soo Hyun but also poses serious legal and ethical concerns. GOLDMEDALIST promised to hold those responsible accountable under the full extent of the law.
In response, the agency plans to file criminal charges against both HoverLab and the audio provider. These include violations related to stalking and defamation under Korea’s cyber and information protection laws. GOLDMEDALIST vowed to work closely with law enforcement to ensure proper legal consequences for those spreading fabricated content.
The statement concludes with a firm declaration that GOLDMEDALIST will continue to protect Kim Soo Hyun’s rights and reputation against baseless claims. They urge the public to remain critical of unverified sources and to allow legal authorities to thoroughly investigate and address the issue.
