Christian Horner Dismisses Speculation on Verstappen’s Future After Nurburgring Showcase
Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has firmly addressed recent speculations regarding Max Verstappen’s future in motorsport following the Dutch driver’s impressive performance at the Nurburgring. Verstappen’s demonstration run at the historic circuit reignited discussions about his potential interests beyond Formula 1, including participation in events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Horner, however, was quick to quell such conjecture. In an interview, he emphasized that Verstappen’s commitment to Red Bull remains unwavering, stating, “Max has always been crystal clear with the team. His commitment has been unwavering. He enjoys the people that he trusts and the people that he works with and enjoys very much being a part of this team” .
The Red Bull boss acknowledged Verstappen’s diverse interests in motorsport but clarified that these do not indicate a departure from Formula 1. “Honestly, Max is his own man,” Horner noted. “He’s got interests outside of Formula 1. He enjoys driving GT cars, simulators, LMP cars. He’s very old school in many respects in that he just wants to drive” .
Verstappen’s passion for various forms of racing is well-documented, yet Horner believes that Formula 1 remains his primary focus. “He’s doing it because he enjoys and loves it, and as soon as that enjoyment and love dips, he will go and do something else,” Horner explained.
