The Dallas Cowboys are adding a well-known person to coach Brian Schottenheimer’s coaching staff.
Ken Dorsey, the former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator, will join Dallas’ staff, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Dorsey’s official position is still being established.
Dorsey served as the Cleveland Browns’ offensive coordinator last season, but was fired at the end of the team’s 3-14 record. Prior to that, he served as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator, but he was fired in mid-2023 and replaced by Joe Brady. As a player, he is most known for his college career as a quarterback at Miami, where he won a national championship and was a Heisman Trophy finalist twice in 2001 and 2002.
Dorsey will not be able to fill the position of offensive coordinator because the Cowboys have already hired their replacement. Furthermore, Schottenheimer intends to call offensive plays, therefore Dorsey is unlikely to play a significant part in how the offense is handled. His previous two offensive coordinator stints were not particularly successful, and he is maybe most known for one viral moment that has since become a meme on social media. The Cowboys are providing him the opportunity to solidify his career and even establish himself as a candidate for future offensive coordinator positions.
