DONE DEAL: Lions get good news on Maxx Crosby trade

It’s no secret that Detroit Lions fans want to see Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby in Detroit, and despite Crosby’s frequent comments about wanting to stay in Vegas, those hopes never fade. Now, Detroit Lions fans have one more reason to hope and believe that Crosby’s return to the Motor City isn’t completely unrealistic.

Crosby is once again being discussed as a potential trade target, so his situation in Vegas may be more fluid than imagined.

Raiders Could ‘Expediate’ Rebuild By Trading Maxx Crosby

NFL analysts and experts Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport published an article on February 9 that discusses pass rushers who are in for a “potentially wild 2025 offseason.” In it, Crosby is mentioned as one of those guys.

Sure, they point out that Crosby has established himself as a “Raider for life,” but there are other reasons he could be dealt. For starters, they state that the star player has “openly expressed his frustrations with the team’s seemingly endless string of changes and mounting losses.” Crosby wants to win and be a major contributor to the success.”

Pelissero and Rapoport add that, while the team has a new head coach in Pete Carroll, who should bring some “stability,” the Raiders still lack a franchise quarterback and must significantly reshape their roster.

“Trading Crosby for a bounty of picks would be one way to expedite that process,” they wrote, “and Crosby might welcome the change, particularly if it’s to a playoff team where he knows people (e.g. Green Bay).”

Unfortunately, they cite Green Bay as a preferred landing location for Crosby. However, if he is available, Brad Holmes will most certainly be interested in adding this Michigan player to the Lions roster.

Crosby has two years and around $44 million remaining on the contract extension he signed in 2022. He is, of course, a Michigan native and Eastern Michigan alum, which makes bringing him to Detroit much more appealing.

Crosby discussed as a possible trade target for the Detroit Lions.

Pelissero and Rapoport aren’t the only ones who believe Crosby is available. In a February 11 story for SideLion Report, Brad Berreman mentioned Crosby as an edge rusher trade target for the Lions.

Berreman writes in the story that “the cost to trade for Crosby would be high” and that Crosby has two years left on his deal. But, he adds that “if Crosby were to ask the Raiders for a trade, it also feels like they’d be far more agreeable to it than the Browns have been to this point with (edge rusher Myles) Garrett.”

There’s also the fact that Crosby continues to openly discuss sports in a positive way, which is generating trade speculation. On February 9, following the Detroit Pistons’ victory over the Hornets, Crosby took to X to declare that it’s “dope” to see the Pistons “ballin’ again” after a long absence. He understands how fantastic it is to have parts of the Bad Boys period back in Detroit.
