BREAKING- Former Tennessee Vols defender lands NFL contract extension

A former Tennessee Vols defender reportedly landed a new NFL contract on Thursday.

According to multiple reports, former Volunteers defensive back Theo Jackson signed a two-year extension with the Minnesota Vikings worth $12.615 million.

Jackson was set to be a restricted free agent this offseason before agreeing to terms on a new deal with the Vikings.

Jackson played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2021 (which means he’s one of the few players that played for Butch Jones, Jeremy Pruitt, and Josh Heupel).

The Nashville native was Second-Team All-SEC in 2021 after totaling 78 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one interception as a fifth-year senior.

Jackson was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The former Vol was signed off the Titans’ practice squad by the Vikings during his rookie season.

Jackson played in 17 games for the Vikings in 2024, totaling 17 tackles and one interception.
