South Korean Consulate Shuts Down Rumors and Refutes Allegations

Claims made by the family of Kim Sae Ron regarding a violent incident involving a whistleblower in New York have been firmly denied by the South Korean Consulate. The consulate clarified that there have been no reports or documentation indicating that any South Korean national has been arrested or held in custody in connection with the supposed assault, contradicting what was shared during a recent family press conference.

During the press briefing, Kim Sae Ron’s family alleged that a whistleblower had been targeted in an attack linked to confidential information supposedly shared by the late actress. These allegations also suggested that actor Kim Soo Hyun might be indirectly connected, following claims that Kim Sae Ron disclosed private details about a relationship with him that began when she was still underage.

Further fueling the controversy, an AI-modified audio clip surfaced, allegedly containing confessions or sensitive exchanges involving Kim Sae Ron and the whistleblower. Despite doubts about the authenticity of the audio, discussions and rumors surrounding the whistleblower’s identity and the attack reportedly taking place in the United States gained traction online.

Addressing the growing rumors, the South Korean Consulate in New York, according to ChosunBiz, issued an official statement rejecting the narrative. They emphasized that no South Korean individuals had been implicated in any such incident within their jurisdiction and confirmed the absence of related arrests or investigations concerning the alleged assault.

The consulate specifically responded to the claims put forward not only by Kim Sae Ron’s family but also by Kim Se Eui, the CEO of HoverLab. In their official stance, the consulate stated, “We have not received any notifications related to this matter to date,” underlining the complete lack of formal reports or communications involving the alleged incident.

In addition to addressing the press conference allegations, the consulate responded to assertions that the FBI was involved in a probe related to the case. They stated clearly, “This is not information we possess or can verify,” further distancing themselves from speculative details not supported by any official documentation.

Officials also invoked Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, which mandates that any arrest or detention of a South Korean citizen abroad must be reported promptly to the consulate. Given that no such communication has been received, the consulate reiterated that no legal procedures or criminal investigations involving South Korean nationals are currently underway.

In conclusion, the South Korean Consulate has categorically dismissed all claims linking their nationals to any attack on a whistleblower in New York. Their response challenges the narrative presented in the press conference and serves as a firm denial of Kim Soo Hyun’s alleged involvement in any crime associated with the case.
