The New Orleans Pelicans announced that star forward Zion Williamson will be out for their Friday night matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies due to “return to play reconditioning from illness.”
This news comes as a disappointment to fans eagerly anticipating a potential showdown between Williamson and Grizzlies star Ja Morant. Williamson has only played in 10 games this season due to various injuries, including a recent hamstring injury that sidelined him for 27 games.
While Williamson has shown flashes of brilliance upon his return, the Pelicans have been cautious with his minutes and have held him out of back-to-back games.
With Williamson sidelined, the Grizzlies will have a slightly easier path to victory at home.
