‘The Rings Of Power’ Season 3 Theories: Will Sauron Use Morgoth’s Crown To Forge The One Ring?

Sauron has finally shown us why the elves were petrified of him, why Adar so desperately wanted to kill him, and why even enemies joined forces to get the better of him. Middle-earth stood on the brink of a great war, one that was going to be remembered for generations to come. At the end of season 2, Sauron took the nine rings of Men with him and escaped from Eregion. Galadriel was brought back from the brink of death by Elrond, though I don’t know what the implications of doing so would be. The streaming platform has already announced a third season of The Rings of Power, so on the basis of that, let’s speculate where the lives of the different characters will lead them in the next installment.

Spoiler Alert

What Will Sauron Do In Mordor?

Sauron fled from Eregion, and I believe he will head back to Mordor, ok the nine rings of Men from Galadriel. He had manipulated Celebrimbor into believing that the rings would bring back stability to the realm, and before Celebrimbor could learn about the truth, it was too late. Also, it is to be noted here that Nenya, i.e., Galadriel’s ring, was still in her possession, and we saw how Elrond and Gil-galad used it to bring Galadriel back to life. I believe now Sauron will try to forge the One Ring so that he could have complete control over the lives of the people of Middle-earth. Obviously, it won’t be an easy task for Sauron to forge the One Ring, and he will encounter all sorts of challenges as he now doesn’t have Celebrimbor by his side.

We saw in The Rings of Power season 2 that Sauron was not as gifted as Celebrimbor when it came to working with metals and ore. Probably Sauron will use Morgoth’s helmet to forge the One Ring. Though he said that he wanted to bring peace to Middle-earth and rule by setting an example, he just wanted to be in power and he was ready to go to any extent to achieve that. As per the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the One Ring, that was meant to rule all living beings on Middle-earth, was forged in the flames of Mount Doom. I guess in the third season, Sauron will unleash his wrath since after Adar’s death he had the Orcs army at his disposal, and he was more powerful than he ever was.

What’s next for Elendil and Isildur?

The Queen Regent was right when she said that if the Palantir showed Elendil that he was escaping from Numenor and going towards the forest, then that was what he was supposed to do. Queen Regent told him time and again to not struggle against his destiny and let things happen the way they were supposed to. We saw in the last episode of season 2 that Queen Regnet gave Elendil the sword named Narcil, which will eventually be used by Isildur to defeat the Dark Lord after his father’s death in the great battle. Elendil believed that it was his responsibility to save the people of Numenor from the tyrannical rule of Pharazon, but little did he know that he and his successors were destined to save the entire Middle-earth from the wrath of the Lord of the Rings, aka Sauron.

Sauron.

In The Rings of Power season 3, Isildur will most likely go on a quest to find his father after he realizes what transpired during the time he was not there. It was just a matter of time before Elendil and Gil-galad joined forces and waged an all-out onslaught against the Dark Lord. Now according to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Elendil and Gil-galad both will perish on the battlefield, but their sacrifice won’t go in vain. Elendil’s blood, Isildur will take the broken sword of his father and cut Sauron’s finger, on which he wore the One Ring.

Will Earien Have A Change Of Heart?

Now the character of Earien is non-canonical, and so it is difficult to say what her role will be in the upcoming battle. But I have a hunch that she will finally have a change of heart and see Pharazon for who he actually is. Earien, I believe, will join forces with her father and brother, and Isildur’s return to Numenor is going to play a huge role in the grand scheme of things. I guess after Isildur arrives at Numenor, he will tell his sister what he experienced, how he fought Adar, and what was happening in the world beyond Numenor. Probably that’s when Earien would realize that she had been wrong all along in supporting Pharazon and going against her father. Earien loved her father, and she went against him only because of ideological differences. But once she gets to know the truth, gets a better worldview, and understands that the intentions of the Queen Regent were not evil, then her perceptions would also change

Will Gandalf take part in the war against Sauron?

Well, according to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Gandalf didn’t take part in the war against Sauron because he had not attained his true form. But the makers have taken a few creative liberties, tweaked a few subplots, and brought some new characters that didn’t exist in the world created by JRR Tolkien, and so I think at this juncture anything is possible. Tom Bombadil had told Gandalf that he was going to play a major role in the upcoming battle. Even Gandalf was surprised when he heard that he was the destined one who was supposed to stop the Dark Wizard and Sauron. Also, we saw in the last episode of The Rings of Power that he had found his staff, and he saved the lives of the Stoors and the Harefoots using his powers. So he was in better control of his powers, and more importantly, he had started understanding what was expected of him and what the purpose of his existence was. So I believe in all probability, Gandalf will be a part of the last alliance of Men and Elves and play a crucial role in the grand scheme of things

.Will Sauron be defeated?

Celebrimbor, before being killed by Sauron, told Galadriel that it was not strength that overcame the darkness, but light that was mightier than every other evil force in the world. At the end of season 2, the odds were in favor of the dark lord. As Elrond stated, a lot of elves died while fighting the battle at Eregion, and those who were left didn’t have any hope left with them. But then Galadriel came to life, and together with Gil-galad, Arondir, and Elrond, they stood on the cliff and declared that they would fight to save Middle-earth till their last breath. There was something about the imagery that filled people with hope. I believe Durin’s army will soon join the elves, and together with Elendil and Isildur, they will march towards Mordor. Also, Gandalf’s role will have a huge impact, and probably his presence, his know-how, and his powers will be able to turn the tide in favor of the Alliance. Sauron will be defeated, though I’m pretty sure that the victory is going to come at a huge cost.
