Julian Nagelsmann’s reps reportedly informed Premier League clubs that the German coach could be available this summer. Liverpool will hunt for a new manager immediately after Jürgen Klopp declared the end of his nearly nine-year tenure at Anfield.
Nagelsmann is now in command of the German national team, having left Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in 2023. Throughout his career in international management, Nagelsmann has been linked to various jobs in Europe, including Chelsea, Barcelona, and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, for the time being, he stays with the national team under a contract that will expire after Euro 2024. He may make a speedy return to club management after that.
According to HITC, Nagelsmann’s representatives have informed Premier League clubs that he could be available this summer, with the coach open to a move to the top tier of English football. Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Chelsea are thought to be among the teams aware of his willingness to go.
Klopp, 56, has already expressed his appreciation for Nagelsmann, who was entrusted to the national team post last year. “Nagelsmann’s age does not matter because he has already proven his potential as an outstanding coach at the age of 28,” remarked the coach.
“He has eight years of experience at the top level and many other managers only achieve similar results at the age of 45-50.”
Liverpool has also been linked with numerous other contenders to follow Klopp at Anfield. Xabi Alonso is still the frontrunner, while Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi have also been connected. As of yet, no decision has been taken, though the return of Michael Edwards to manage FSG’s football operations means Liverpool’s efforts may pick up soon.
According to Liverpool.com, Nagelsmann is yet another coach who, if appointed, will face fierce competition from rivals around the world of football. Following the hiring of Michael Edwards as football CEO, the club must now move fast to fill the sporting director and manager positions.
