Vikings’ Daronte Jones Gets Another Interview; Grant Udinski Update
The Minnesota Vikings are facing the possibility of losing two key assistant coaches.
Daronte Jones Interview: Vikings defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Daronte Jones is interviewing with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their defensive coordinator position. This marks his second interview for a DC job this offseason, having previously interviewed with the Chicago Bears. The Bears ultimately hired former Saints and Raiders head coach Dennis Allen on Sunday.
Grant Udinski Update: Assistant quarterbacks coach/assistant offensive coordinator Grant Udinski is also in demand. He interviewed with the Seattle Seahawks and was a finalist for their offensive coordinator position, which eventually went to former Vikings and Saints OC Klint Kubiak. Udinski also interviewed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are seeking a replacement for Liam Coen, who left to become the Jaguars’ head coach.
Both Jones and Udinski are highly regarded within the Vikings organization and have received significant interest from other teams. If either coach accepts a position elsewhere, it would be a significant loss for the Vikings.
The Vikings are hoping to retain both coaches, but the team’s ability to do so will depend on the offers they receive from other teams.
