Dan Ndoye ended his drought with a career-first Serie A brace surrounding Riccardo Orsolini’s penalty as Bologna exacerbated the Venezia problem.

The Rossoblu had been in fantastic form, winning three consecutive Serie A games, but crumpled 3-0 to Lazio last week while down to ten men, and Tommaso Pobega was suspended. They also lost to Lille in the Champions League midweek, despite scoring their first goal of the season. The Lagunari had suffered three consecutive defeats, and Francesco Zampano had surgery to repair a fracture in his hand.

The Liveblog shows how it all unfolded.

Remo Freuler tested Filip Stankovic from the edge of the area, and Dan Ndoye zipped a pass across the face of goal that no one could reach, although Jens Odgaard should’ve done better when volleying over from 12 yards on a Juan Miranda cross.

Ndoye surged down the right and was hauled down clumsily by Ridgeciano Haps, so the Switzerland international sent Stankovic the wrong way from the penalty spot, scoring his first goal of the season and only his second in Serie A.

Within four minutes, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia had an opportunity to equalise, but his shot went high and wide from the edge of the box after Gaetano Oristanio made two tackles.

Miranda hit a long-range shot, and Odgaard curled wide from the edge of the box, but the second half began on a sour note as Lorenzo De Silvestri walked off after Oristanio accidently stepped on his Achilles tendon as they crossed paths.

Bologna squandered another golden opportunity when Odgaard passed Jesper Karlsson clear through the middle, only to scuff a feeble finish into Stankovic’s arms.

Odgaard stung the goalkeeper’s gloves twice when he could have done much better, the second time on a pass over the top from Riccardo Orsolini. However, following the second effort, Thijs Dallinga attempted to get on the end of the loose ball as Idzes kicked it away, arriving first. Following the VAR review, the referee gave another penalty, which Orsolini converted.

Moments later, Orsolini sent a low cross from the right that Ndoye flicked into the net from six yards for his maiden Serie A brace.

To make matters worse, Venezia lost substitute John Yeboah to injury, and Lukasz Skorupski made an outstanding flying stop on Joel Pohjanpalo’s volley.
