Actor Kim Soo-hyun, along with his agency Gold Medalist, has filed a second lawsuit against Kim Se-ui, operator of the controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute. The suit, filed on April 30, accuses Kim Se-ui of violating South Korea’s Anti-Stalking Act by continuing to target the actor despite an earlier court ruling that prohibited such behavior.
According to Kim Soo-hyun’s legal representatives at L.K.B & Partners, this new legal action follows an initial complaint submitted on April 1. That complaint addressed the relentless spread of misinformation and defamatory content by Kim Se-ui, which the court recognized as stalking. The court responded by issuing a provisional order on April 23 to restrain the YouTuber’s actions.
Despite being officially notified of the court’s decision on April 24, Kim Se-ui reportedly ignored the ruling and continued to broadcast content attacking Kim Soo-hyun. The videos included unverified claims, which the legal team says have caused significant harm to the actor’s reputation and well-being.
L.K.B & Partners emphasized that Kim Se-ui’s refusal to comply with the court’s order is not just a civil issue but a criminal offense. Under Article 20, Paragraph 2 of the Anti-Stalking Act, violators face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million KRW. This has prompted the swift filing of the second lawsuit.
Kim Soo-hyun and his agency have stated they are committed to taking strong legal measures to protect the actor from continued harassment and defamation. They also reiterated the importance of accountability for individuals who exploit social media to target public figures without factual basis.
This case reflects growing tensions between celebrities and rogue media platforms in South Korea, especially YouTube channels known for scandal-focused content.
