Seminole Heritage and homecoming weekend are approaching for the Florida State Seminoles, and the ‘Noles will meet the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in their second-to-last game of the season. While the Buccaneers are now 1-10, the Seminoles are 1-9 and seeking to add to their victory total.
The Florida State football team debuted its new turquoise outfit during the 2024 Spring Game to recognize their relationship with the Seminole Tribe. Fans may see the ‘Noles wearing the Heritage outfit again this Saturday.
FSU Sports Info’s weekly game notes included an interesting information. The Seminoles often do not reveal their uniforms until the day before the game.
“Florida State returns to action after an off day to host Charleston Southern for the Seminole Heritage game and the university’s Homecoming. Florida State honors its long-standing relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida by using turquoise, the color that denotes peace, friendship, and fellowship in Native American societies, in a variety of ways during the game.”
The first Seminole Heritage football game took place last year in a 38-20 victory over No. 16 Duke, and the date also coincides with FSU’s homecoming. While other Florida State sports, such as basketball (since 2013), have worn the turquoise uniform for years, the football team has yet to wear it against an opponent. However, they did feature in EA Sports College Football 25.
As in previous years, many Seminole Tribe members will be in attendance, and the tribe will be honored in a special ceremony as the two entities continue their heritage of harmony.
The game between Florida State and Charleston Southern is scheduled for Saturday, November 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Doak Campbell Stadium.
