Slipknot has toured like crazy over the span of their two-plus decades as a band. Recently, percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan stated that the band may begin to slow down for their own longevity, an opinion shared by frontman Corey Taylor. In a recent interview with Rock Feed, Taylor went into greater detail regarding his future plans with the band, as well as his potential retirement from touring.
Taylor revealed that years of touring have put him in “continuous pain” and that his body is starting to show the effects: “It’s the knees, it’s my feet. I have a broken toe on this foot. I have gout on my feet. It gets into my joints and shit. It’s tough. I am not as agile as I used to be. I am not 35 anymore. It’s hard. But there are ways to conduct shows that don’t necessitate being so insane right now.”
However, Taylor is not ready to leave Slipknot just yet. He stated that he still loves the band and the music and is unwilling to give it up. However, he wishes to find a method to continue with Slipknot without having to tour as much: “I’ve already stated that physically, I may have five years left. At the same time, I make an effort to take good care of myself. Now that I have a lot of fucking miles on me, it’s difficult for me.”
“There are still a few things I want to accomplish and try, and I’m taking aggressive steps to do so. But when I run out of ideas, I’ll just say, ‘Alright, it’s time to find my favourite chair and acquire some weight,’ and that’s what I’ll do,” he explained.
He will, without a doubt, make a decision on his future when the time comes. Taylor’s future with Slipknot is uncertain, but one thing is certain: he is a metal legend, and the music he has made with the band will be cherished by fans for many years to come.
