For a week of preparation and bowl enjoyment, Alabama football has arrived in Tampa. ReliaQuest Bowl week began Thursday night with the Crimson Tide’s arrival in Tampa.
In addition to training in Tuscaloosa, the squad will spend the following three days in Tampa Bay. As No. 11 gets ready to play Michigan on December 31, BamaCentral will be there to cover the game and conduct interviews with coaches and players.

December 27, 1941: The day before Alabama’s coaches depart for the Cotton Bowl, where the Crimson Tide would play SWC champion Texas A&M, they had a press conference. Assistant coach Red Drew remarked, “He’s the best defensive end I’ve ever seen,” while coach Frank Thomas referred to senior Holt Rast as “the best all-around end in Alabama football history.” Alabama went on to win 29-21, their first time playing in a bowl other than the Rose Bowl.

December 27, 2001: Alabama defeated Iowa State 14–13 in the Independence Bowl when Andrew Zow, the quarterback, completed a 27-yard scoring pass to Terry Jones Jr. with 4:44 remaining, two plays after Waine Bacon blocked a punt. The Cyclones missed three field goals in all, including two in the fourth quarter.
