Alabama football lost a five-star prospect in its 2025 recruiting class. Ty Haywood, an offensive tackle from Texas, decommitted on Monday, according to On3′s Chad Simmons.
Haywood originally committed to Alabama in July. He did not sign with the Crimson Tide during the early signing period, as part of the class that represents Kalen DeBoer’s first full recruiting cycle as head coach of UA.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Haywood is ranked as the No. 4 tackle in the 2025 class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
“Imposing offensive tackle with impressive length relative to height,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in his analysis of Haywood. “Long-armed with a huge reach. Gradually improved quickness off the ball throughout junior year and performed well on the elite camp circuit prior to senior season to ascend a loaded 2025 OT board.”
The Crimson Tide recruiting class still includes two tackles, both of whom have already signed. Alabama picked up four-star prospect Jackson Lloyd and three-star Mal Waldrep.
Alabama ended up with the No. 2 class according to the 247 composite. Everyone else in the group has either already enrolled or signed.
The traditional late signing day is scheduled for Feb. 5. Haywood had originally chosen Alabama over a group of offers that included Florida State, LSU, Miami and Michigan.
Alabama’s 2025 season is scheduled to begin on Aug. 30, when the Crimson Tide travels to Florida State.
