BRUINS FIRES UP CASE: Biggest Discussion from bruins’ OT loss to resilient Maple Leafs

The Black and Gold got off to a much better start in their Original Six game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, but the outcome was less than ideal.

Mitch Marner delivered once again on TD Garden ice, scoring the game-winning goal with 52 seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Leafs to a 5-4 victory over the Bruins. The setback will only hamper the Bruins’ playoff chances and extend their losing streak to four games, dropping them to 27-24-8 on the season.

The Maple Leafs rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, with goals from Morgan Reilly, Marner, and Nick Robertson, before David Pastrnak put the Bruins ahead 4-3 midway through the third period. Unfortunately for Boston, a familiar pattern emerged, as the Maple Leafs tied the game to force overtime with 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

Pastrnak scored his 29th goal of the season only 29 seconds into the game, giving the Bruins an early 1-0 lead. Pastrnak extended his point streak to 15 games, scoring 13 goals and 17 assists for a total of 29 points during that time.

Brad Marchand and Morgan Geekie scored power-play goals to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead. This is the 85th time Pastrnak and Marchand have both scored in the same game. The Bruins are 73-6-5 in their previous 84 games.
