Notre Dame may have already found an unfancied Riley Leonard replacement as one player continues to impress coaches during spring practice.
The Fighting Irish were left with a major hole to fill after the star quarterback declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in January, shortly after helping Marcus Freeman’s side reach the College Football Playoff National Championship game to cap off a remarkable season in South Bend. It wasn’t meant to be for Notre Dame as it lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes in Atlanta, but now it must move on without Leonard in its side.
His departure opened up the door for fellow quarterback’s Steve Angeli, CJ Carr, and Kenny Minchey to claim the coveted starting role, and according to their coach Gino Guidugli, all three have been impressing as practices heat up. However, he claimed that one of them, in particular, has been catching the eye.
