The Ohio State Buckeyes were back on the field for their second practice of the spring Wednesday. That means numerous high school prospects were again on the Columbus, Ohio campus as well.
On3’s Mick Walker reported eight recruiting prospects attended Wednesday’s practice. The top recruit was four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley.
“The 6-foot-1 and 200-pound Bentley made his On300 debut last month,” Walker wrote. “On3 ranks Bentley as the No. 45 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the 2026 class. Bentley has already visited Oklahoma and LSU this month.
“The Sooners and Tigers both considered top contenders for the Texas native.”
Bentley received an invitation to the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl. As a result, he played in the annual East vs. West matchup on Jan. 11.
The 247Sports composite rankings have Bentley rated as the No. 10 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. The signal-caller is also considered the No. 18 Texas recruit and a top 125 prospect overall.
In addition to Ohio State, Bentley plans to visit several schools this month.
The Buckeyes have received five verbal commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, including two from wide receivers. But they are still searching for a quarterback commitment.
In the 2025 class, Ohio State signed No. 3 quarterback Tavien St. Clair. The five-star recruit is expected to compete with former five-star signal-caller Julian Sayin to replace Will Howard behind center for the Buckeyes.
