Alabama Football received its first pledge in the 2026 recruiting class on Saturday when Jamarrion Gordon chose the Tide, and it now has its second commitment. The Crimson Tide has received a commitment from Dorian Barney, a four-star recruit from Georgia, as they begin to assemble their 2026 recruiting class. Barney is ranked 41st in the country and third among cornerbacks. The Tide selected Barney over Georgia and South Carolina, among other colleges.

The Alabama football team moves from having no commitments in the 2026 recruiting class to having the fifth-ranked class. New defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist is off to a fast start on the recruiting path, having received his second commitment in two days and being the only position coach with any pledges for 2026.

The Tide made up a lot of ground in this recruitment late, awarding Barney a scholarship in March and unseating Georgia’s choice right before Barney committed. The Tide have a long way to go before signing this 2026 class to keep potential suitors at bay, but in Barney, they may have found the nation’s greatest cornerback, since Barney is already the ideal size for a cornerback entering his junior season.

Crimson Tide Heating Up for Summer
The Alabama football team is gaining momentum as it prepares for a busy summer of recruiting. The Tide will host a slew of the nation’s top talent in the coming months as it begins to create its 2025 recruiting class as well as its 2026 recruiting class. The 2026 recruiting class is the first that Kalen DeBoer will build without the assistance of Nick Saban, making it extremely crucial.
