Caleb Williams, a Macalester guard, announced his commitment to Minnesota via social media only seconds ago. Williams visited the Gophers a few weeks ago and has been silently committed for some time, but now his vow is public. He scored 41 against Minnesota last November and will now join Ben Johnson’s team.

In an exhibition game against Minnesota last fall, Caleb Williams scored 41 points. The 6’2 Macalester guard will graduate this spring and must transfer to a new school for graduate studies, and the Academic All American just visited Minnesota.

Williams led division three Macalester in scoring for the third consecutive year. Caleb was awarded All Region and All-MIAC for the third straight season, averaging 20.0 points per game and ranking second in the MIAC. Williams scored a career-high 51 points at Concordia-Moorhead this year, connecting on 20 of 28 attempts for the MIAC’s second highest scoring game. Caleb scored 1,566 points in 80 career Mac games while playing with Abe Woldeslassie.

Williams is an excellent player both on and off the court. This is a young man who does the team’s laundry after games and practices. The College Sports Communicators honored him an Academic All-American for the second consecutive year. Williams was named to the third team this season after making the first team the previous year. Caleb was a physics and mathematics double major at Macalester with a 3.94 GPA through the Fall 2023 semester.

Williams concluded his career as a 36.7 percent three-point shooter, shooting 177 of 482 attempts in 80 games. He has a lifetime foul shooting percentage of 81% and a field goal percentage of 43%. Throughout his career, Williams took around a dozen shots per game, with half of those coming from beyond the arc. At 6’2″, he averaged 4.8 rebounds per game and had 175 assists to 162 turnovers over 80 games. Throughout his four seasons, he averaged 21 points (played one game during his covid year), 17.5 points, 21 points, and 20 points.

Williams comes from Wild Rose, Wisconsin, a community of 800 people located between Stevens Point and Oshkosh, approximately four hours from Minneapolis. Williams was a four-time all-league and all-state performer as a senior in 2020. Caleb was also named All-Conference in track in three different events, too many to list.
