As you are aware, the Canadiens will be trying to acquire a key piece to their squad this offseason. Trading a defenseman for a forward is an option.
Will Trevor Zegras be the forward in question? We do not know.
Of course, we know that rumors are circulating. Whether it’s because of the possible match, how he’s treated in California, his relationship to Cole Caufield, or something else, rumors abound.
And, of course, the principal interested party is well aware of the situation.
As reported by Eric Stephens (The Athletic) and later picked up by RDS, the Ducks player is aware that rumors about him exist. Dealing with all of this has not been simple.

According to The Athletic, rumours between the Canadiens and Anaheim are a major source of conjecture around the talented Ducks forward.
And Zegras clearly recognizes this.

He adds that the rumors about him going to Montreal and elsewhere stink (in the sense that they’re nonsense and he has to deal with them) and that he can only control what he can. Unless he officially requests a trade, he will not say anything else while in Anaheim.
For all of the reasons stated at the beginning of this book, as well as the fact that the Habs and Ducks have discussed the player, we can conclude that there is some reality to the claim.
But Kent Hughes, both in managing the Pierre-Luc Dubois situation and in his end-of-season remarks (he won’t do everything to improve his club since it won’t come at the expense of the future), will not look for him.
