Is Cole Caufield having the best season of his life?

Not always, no.

Last night’s game against the Flyers saw the small forward achieve 60 points with an assist. But, aside from his assists, we’re keeping an eye on his goal totals because he’s been paid well to score. And with 24 goals so far this season, his performance has been little disappointing.

Perhaps expectations were too high, since many predicted he’d score (at least) 40 this season.

His 26 goals in 46 games last year contributed to such expectations.

In a recent episode of “Processus,” Simon Boisvert and Mathias Brunet examined #22’s season, and the Snake wonders if the Habs rushed through the player’s contract.

Cole Caufield is a complementing player in his view, even if the forward is slightly better overall.

He has improved, but in my perspective, he is still a player that has little effect outside of scoring goals.

He has huge stretches in games where you don’t see him at all. — Simon Boisvert

Cole Caufield earns $7.85 million per year, but the Habs chose not to sign him because he is attractive and slim.

We all agree on that.

But we’re talking about a man that puts a lot of strain on himself, and he’s in his first year of contract, which adds to the burden.

We won’t be able to truly analyze the situation until after next season, when the sample size will be larger.

The goal is to compare the two players’ techniques rather than their careers, as both are known for their scoring abilities. However, Alex Ovechkin’s goal scoring has been lackluster in recent seasons.

In his sixth NHL season, Ovi scored only 32 goals, compared to 52, 46, 65, 56, and 50 in his previous five seasons.

What I mean is, don’t panic just yet; terrible seasons happen to even the best players.

Let’s wait a little longer because no one was complaining about Cole’s performance prior to his injury last season.
