Despite links to clubs such as Liverpool, the German FA’s president has stated that he ‘won’t be opposed’ to Julian Nagelsmann remaining as the national team’s head coach beyond the summer.

Nagelsmann, 36, was chosen as Germany manager on a short-term contract last year, with the goal of bringing his team to the 2024 Euros on home soil.

The former Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig boss has already been linked to a number of clubs for next season, with Liverpool being mentioned as one such option.

While Xabi Alonso remains the favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp this summer, Nagelsmann is one of the other primary possibilities, along with Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool’s highly regarded coach “performs well according to the data” in their managerial search.

OPEN TO OFFERS.

In a recent interview, Nagelsmann refused to dismiss questions about his future, stating that he would accept the first good contract offer.

“If I have a contract offer before the Euros that I’m satisfied with and that makes me feel comfortable, then the likelihood of me signing it before the Euros is high,” he added.

“I now don’t have anything on the table. As a result, I am unable to answer the question. The possibility of anything happening before the Euros exists, but there is also a chance that nothing will happen.

Julian Nagelsmann

Now, however, Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German FA, has revealed he would like Nagelsmann to continue with the national team.

He told reporters on Thursday that “the chemistry is there.” Julian stated that he would like to have clarity on his future before the Euros. We absolutely will not object to such a wish.”

Meanwhile, sources suggest that the German FA is still interested in selecting Klopp as the national team’s head coach.

According to FootballTransfers, Germany is so interested in Klopp that they are willing to meet his request for a year-long sabbatical, but they may aim to get him in place for the 2026 World Cup cycle.
