Liverpool’s academy prowess has been emphasized in recent weeks, as Jurgen Klopp was forced to rely on a number of young players due to an injury crisis at Anfield.

Six youth youngsters were picked as substitutes in the League Cup final win over Chelsea. Bobby Clark (19), James McConnell (19), and Jayden Danns (18) all contributed to the overtime victory. Clark, McConnell Danns, Lewis Koumas (18), and Trey Nyoni (16) then played in the FA Cup triumph over Southampton three days later.

The strong young structure at the AXA Training Centre ensures the Reds can progressively bring in elite quality from the youth teams as needed.

And it appears that there is another promising talent to be aware of. Kyle Kelly, an 18-year-old midfielder, has been a regular for the Under-18s for the last two seasons but only made his Under-21 debut earlier this month.

Kelly, on the other hand, accomplished something rare for a player. The dynamic midfielder made his senior international debut for St. Kitts & Nevis in a 3-1 friendly victory against San Marino.

He came on in the 81st minute to replace striker Tyquan Terrell and aid his country avoid becoming the first to lose to San Marino in nearly two decades. Conor Bradley, who is now a fixture in Klopp’s team, was the last player to earn his national team debut before Liverpool.

Kelly was born in Northampton and is so eligible to play for England. He has played 14 games for the Under-18s this season, but it was last season that he established himself as a regular, scoring in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
