Manchester United will face Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals, with fit-again Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund vying for a place in the starting lineup. Maguire and Hojlund trained during the preseason after missing the previous few games due to a crowded treatment room.

During his pre-match press conference, United manager Erik ten Hag shared some pleasant selection news with the media. He also revealed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka (unspecified) and Mason Mount (calf) have made progress in their respective recoveries, but Liverpool may be too soon for Mount.

Liverpool will face United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon (3.30pm), with a Wembley ticket on the line for the winner. Here’s our most recent update from Carrington, which includes estimated return dates for 11 players ahead of United’s mouth-watering quarter-final match:

Altay Bayindir sustained a muscle-related injury.

The expected return date is March 30 against Brentford (A).

Ten Hag has stated: n/a.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Injury: Unspecified.

Return date: March 17 vs Liverpool (home).

Ten Hag said, “We had a good week. The players you mentioned [Hojlund, Maguire, and Wan-Bissaka] returned to the field, partially in the beginning of the week, had a session [on Friday], and are all training. We’ll see how they recover from this, but it appears to be doing well. I believe they will be fit to play.

Harry Maguire sustained an unspecified injury.

Jonny Evans suffered a knock.

The expected return date is March 30 against Brentford (A).

Ten Hag stated: “We had two players on the pitch who were not 100%, Jonny Evans and Marcus Rashford, and they gave everything, as did the entire team. I’m not sure [whether they’ll miss any matches]. Finally, they had to come off, but I would have wanted to retain them.

Lisandro Martinez
Injury to the knee.

Return date: TBD.

Ten Hag stated: “It’s a setback, of course. When he plays, you can see how he contributes to the team. Aside from his technical abilities, he also contributes mindset to the team, yet it is a significant disadvantage. He’s disappointed, but he’s a fighter; he’ll be back, stronger.”

Luke Shaw sustained an unspecified injury.

Return date: TBD.

Ten Hag stated, “It was a precaution, Luke Shaw; he left some messages regarding complaints. We knew his history of too many injuries and couldn’t take the chance. [It was] a vital game, but we can’t be without him for six weeks.”

Tyrell Malacia Injury: Unknown.

Return date: TBD.

Ten Hag stated: “Malacia will require a few more weeks. Yes, he experienced obstacles during his recuperation. It takes too long, which is bad for him. That’s bad for us. But we’ve turned a corner, and it’s good news: he’ll be back on the pitch soon. I don’t think it’ll be long before he returns to team training.”

Mason Mount had a calf injury.

The expected return date is March 30 against Brentford (A).

Ten Hag’s comments: “Also, what was very good was Mason Mount trained the whole week with us, first part of the week partly, but he also had some full sessions with us, so it’s looking good.”

Omari Forson suffered an unspecified injury.

Return date: TBD.

Ten Hag stated, “They [Rashford and Evans] recovered from the derby, so they were available [for the Everton game], and the rest of the squad is the same, except for Omari Forson.” “He dropped out due to an injury.”

Anthony Martial’s injury is to his groin.

Return date: TBD.

Ten Hag stated: “It’s no secret that I wanted a striker more. Because of Martial’s injury, we don’t really have a backup, but it wasn’t possible because we had to follow Financial Fair Play laws. But, yes, we need to be a little more imaginative if we want to be in the top nine.”

Rasmus Hojlund
Muscular injury.
