Fulham have held ‘in-depth’ negotiations about signing Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson at the end of the season.

Fulham may need to identify a few midfield targets for the summer.

After all, Joao Palhinha is certain to generate a lot of interest, and Fulham are willing to trade the Portugal star.

Tony Khan told TalkSPORT in February that Fulham would consider reasonable bids for Palhinha in the summer.

Fulham are looking for a new midfielder after losing Palhinha, which would be a significant loss.

According to Calciomercato in Italy, Fulham have held ‘in-depth’ conversations with Bologna player Lewis Ferguson about moving to London.

Nottingham Forest have also been linked with Ferguson, but their shaky relegation predicament means Fulham will be confident in their ability to stave them off.

According to the article, four Serie A clubs, including Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, and Atalanta, are also interested in Ferguson for the summer transfer window.
Ferguson joined Bologna from Aberdeen in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the best midfielders in Italian football.
Ferguson’s six goals and three assists this season have put him on the attention of several clubs, so Fulham will face a tough challenge.

Ferguson, described as ‘amazing’ by journalist Alasdair Mackenzie, appears to be on the verge of making a major move.

Ferguson’s suitability as a replacement for Palhinha is debatable, given he has played more of an attacking role for Bologna this season.

Ferguson could play deeper if necessary, but his energy is better spent higher up the pitch, therefore Fulham may be considering him alongside another midfield option to overhaul Marco Silva’s engine room.

That makes more sense than viewing Ferguson as a direct replacement for Palhinha, especially as Fulham appears to be pushing ahead with a potential summer deal.
