Liverpool requires a new manager at the end of the season.

Xabi Alonso is the front-runner to succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager at the conclusion of the season, but Harry Redknapp has discovered another candidate.

The former West Ham and Tottenham manager is a tremendous fan of Steven Gerrard and believes that the Liverpool star is an ideal match for the Anfield bench.

Gerrard has had some success as a manager, but his lone Premier League experience was at Aston Villa, where he had a dreadful time.

Gerrard, who is currently coaching in Saudi Arabia, would welcome the opportunity to manage the club he loves, and Redknapp has expressed his support.

“I’m going to say somebody, and people will think I’m crazy, but I’d give it to Steven Gerrard,” Redknapp told BetVictor.

“I know some people will say he was a failure at Aston Villa, and things didn’t go well there, but he’s a Liverpool fan and was an outstanding player for them.

“He’s passionate about the game, and I used to listen to him speak at Rangers and think he was going to be great. “I’d love to see him manage Liverpool.”
