Roberto De Zerbi has hinted that he has no imminent plans to return to Serie A, having arrived in Rome to discuss his hopes to make history with Brighton, dampening some Italian expectations.

De Zerbi is well-known not only for leading Brighton through their inaugural European campaign and the current Europa League last-16 match against Roma, but also for his dynamic and exciting style of play.

During his pre-match press conference, he told the media, “It’s not true that I don’t think about it. One day, I shall return to Italy. I’m not sure when I decided to go to Shakhtar, but it was because I wanted to find a way out of Italy.

“Without going into too much detail, there were several aspects of Italy that I did not enjoy. I chose to do something different.”

His development is constantly observed and valued by clubs such as Milan, where he began his playing career, and Napoli. Moreover, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are all looking for new managers for the upcoming season.

Daniele de Rossi, Roma’s temporary manager, called him a ‘genius,’ but the Brighton manager downplayed the effusive praise. De Zerbi stays focused on making history with Brighton as they prepare for their Europa League last-16 match.
