Liverpool defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Saturday, according to former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg, who believes the Reds took advantage of referee Paul Tierney’s error.

Jurgen Klopp’s team grabbed four points at the top of the Premier League courtesy to a key win in the 88th minute by Darwin Nunez.

Although Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi had possession of the ball when play was halted due to Ibrahima Konate’s head injury, the ball was passed to Liverpool in the buildup to Nunez’s winning goal, which upset Forest.

Forest coach Steven Reid was sent off for approaching referee Tierney on the pitch, and after the game, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis assaulted him.

Following Forest’s loss to Liverpool, the former Premier League official admitted that Tierney made a mistake. Last month, Marinakis recruited Clattenburg to Forest as an advisor to analyze referee performance.

“The law is quite clear,” Clattenburg explained.

According to the legislation, if the referee suspects a head injury, he has the ability to stop the game. However, whichever side has possession must recover the ball. Nottingham Forest certainly possessed that item.

If Nottingham Forest had regained possession of the ball, the game would have ended differently. After then, Liverpool went on the offensive and scored.

I understand how frustrating it is. At this time, Nottingham Forest Football Club appears to be on a losing streak.

After their altercation, the owner is understandably upset. He wants his significant financial commitment in the football team to pay off. He sees more bad news for the football club. It’s reasonable that he is angry. I believe that everyone is disappointed and distressed by this loss. Hopefully, things will improve in the future.
