Despite the fact that the first penalty was reduced on appeal, Jamie Carragher feels Everton will lose an additional “one or two” points. The Toffees were awarded 10 points in November for potential infractions of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability standards; but, as of last week, they had only received six points.

Sean Dyche’s club is presently five points above the relegation zone, therefore Everton’s successful appeal has greatly enhanced their chances of staying in the English Premier League. Carragher did, however, suggest that Everton could be reinstated into the contest if a further point was deducted for a separate offense.

“In that case, Everton would have to be sent off,” Carragher said during an appearance with Sky Bet’s Stick to Football podcast. The Nottingham Forest scenario is from this season, while the Everton sanction is from the previous one. The problem for Everton, however, is that the current sentence covers two [from the previous two years] out of the three-year timeframe.

They argue that since two of these offenses are already included in the three-year sentence, “we cannot be sanctioned again for an additional six points after we have already been sanctioned for these two years.” I believe Nottingham Forest will win six [points], whereas Everton will likely receive one or two.

Everton’s initial deduction was a fine for breaking sustainability and profit rules in the three years preceding 2021/22. An inquiry into additional alleged breaches in the 2022-2023 accounts has since begun. The Toffees are waiting with bated breath to hear whether they will be punished again.

Furthermore, Forest will soon lose points because they were accused of misbehavior during the same time period. The case must be heard by April 8th, and any appeal may push the hearing date out to May 24th, one week after the Premier League season concludes.

Forest will receive no more than six points due to the Premier League’s history of punishing Everton, according to Gary Neville. “If every team is awarded six points for breaking these rules, teams will know what they are going to get,” he went on to say.

“[The] first criteria is that they complete it within a season, which implies they must spend £105 million over three years and limit your losses to a single season. That’s what they must do. Many of these issues will be solved because you will not be measuring after three years.
