The Boston Bruins will host the Calgary Flames at TD Garden on Tuesday night after their All-Star break.

While Jake De Brusk and Derek Forbort return to the lineup after missing the Bruins’ previous game before the brief holiday, rookie forward Matthew Poitras will miss his second straight game.

“He had a follow-up doctor’s appointment today, which is part of his progression,” Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters after the team’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena. “(He’s) not an option tonight.”
Boston Bruins Montgomery claimed he did not intend to bury Poitras on the fourth line.

“Hopefully using him more in situations where he’s going to help us offensively like he was early on,” he said.
Bruins have a game plan in place to ensure Poitras is placed in circumstances where he will succeed.

“I believe it is simply part of his progression to continue growing; that is how we see it,” Montgomery added. “We feel he will play a significant role in what we plan to do. His competitiveness and hockey sense are only two characteristics that stand out, and that’s what makes him such an intriguing hockey player for us.”
