Danny Davis, the Texas football beat writer, compiles a daily Longhorns newsletter that includes this date in history.

Today is October 6, 2024. On this day in Texas history, Sam Ehlinger and Cameron Dicker led the Longhorns to a win over a Kyler Murray-led Oklahoma club.

Texas defeated Oklahoma for the third time in nine attempts, thanks to a dramatic fourth-quarter rally led by Murray. Dicker kicked a 40-yard field goal with nine seconds left to secure the 48-45 victory.

When cameras caught Dicker the Kicker pointing to a teammate during the game, the then-freshman became a household figure and meme.
