Feyenoord have reached an agreement in principle to make Robin van Persie their new head coach with Rene Hake his assistant.
Deals are place in place between Feyenoord and Heerenveen, where former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Van Persie is currently head coach, and Hake has agreed to join him
Paperwork is now being drafted to appoint the pair on contracts until the summer of 2027.
Van Persie, 41, will replace Pascal Bosschaart, who had been put in temporary charge after Brian Priske was sacked on February 10.
The former Netherlands international will leave fellow Eredivisie club Heerenveen, which had been his first managerial position.
He will leave with the club ninth in the table.
Hake had a managerial career spanning 14 years in Dutch football and was recently assistant manager at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, but departed in October.
Van Persie started and finished his playing career at Feyenoord, scoring 46 goals in 122 games across two spells at De Kuip.
He made his name in England, however, with a hugely successful period at Arsenal that was followed by three years at Manchester United, where he won his sole Premier League title.
Feyenoord are currently fourth in the Eredivisie table in their first season following Arne Slot’s exit to Liverpool, 14 points behind league leaders Ajax.
They qualified for the Champions League round of 16 after advancing past Milan, and will face either Arsenal or Inter next.
