Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are currently negotiating one of the most controversial contracts in contemporary NHL history. Overall, Swayman anticipates eight years and approximately $10 million per year. However, the Bruins appear to be only interested in handing Swayman half of the term. Furthermore, it appears that he is only looking to get approximately $6 million. Eventually, both sides must meet in the middle. However, it appears like they are far apart, and neither one is giving in. According to Boston Bruins insider Dakota Spin, it appears like the Bruins are just left with two possibilities.

Swayman, and neither is very encouraging. Essentially, if a contract is not reached quickly, Swayman will remain out until the regular season. The other alternative is even more extreme and involves a transaction. Trading Swayman looks incomprehensible. At the end of the day, the Bruins dealt Linus Ullmark because they needed to sign Swayman. If they lost both of their starting netminders, that would be terrible. You can’t help but feel for Bruins fans right now, who believe their executive administration is operating incompetently and arrogantly. It will be an intriguing few weeks.
