With the loss of Morgan Moses, the highly regarded offensive line that the NY Jets had constructed for Aaron Rodgers sustained their first serious injury. Moses, a constant source of strength throughout his career, was writing while in agony as New York destroyed the New England Patriots in prime time. A Patriots player inadvertently rolled over Moses’ ankle, twisting his knee, causing him to fall. Many others questioned whether it would be the last time they ever saw him wearing a Jets uniform because the injury appeared to be so serious.
Fortunately, medical testing has revealed that Rodgers’ injury is not as serious as first believed, which benefits both him and the Jets. Without Moses, the Jets will have to persevere, but things are not as dire as they first seemed. Moses’ knee injury will cause him to miss “a couple games,” according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh, but an injured reserve placement is not necessary. The Jets will play three straight primetime games following their Week 4 clash against the Denver Broncos, which includes a London derby against the Vikings and a Monday Night matchup against the Bills.

Moses was injured in a bizarre play that nobody could have predicted, in typical Jets flair. Moses was having a strong season to begin with, so this is a serious setback. Along with Tyron Smith and John Simpson, Moses is one of the three new starting offensive lineman the Jets added in the summer. He hasn’t given up a sack yet this season, and his pressure rate allowed is respectable. Olu Fashanu, the No. 11 overall pick, will start at right tackle but is anticipated to study under Smith as a left tackle for a year.
Even though Fashanu, a former left tackle in college, performed admirably when he was asked to play against the Patriots, he didn’t play long enough to obtain a comprehensive understanding of his long-term potential. Nevertheless, he will be a strong pass protection anchor at right tackle because to his lightning-fast feet. For a team looking to win a ring, Moses is the here and now, while Fashanu is the future. The Jets’ offense shouldn’t suffer if Moses is able to return to the field after just a few games and perform at his prior level.
